- ➤ The 18th annual dinner and auction to benefit the Boys and Girls Club summer programs is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27 at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, and registration opens in early January. Grande Cheese and Mercury Marine are presenting the event. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Boys & Girls Club youth shared their talents during the holiday season by making items for veterans, custodians (and more) and supporting local fundraisers including animal rescues and food pantries through events like the Trees Around the World exhibit and bell ringing for the Salvation Army. - ➤ SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital is showcasing local artwork from Treffert Center students in its lobby, with pieces rotating monthly to inspire healing. The hospital will host a public open house from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 16. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ Business owners report an ice fishing season begun amid an early, cold winter — boosting sales at hotels, bait shops, and charters. Customers from across the region are flocking to Green Bay and Winnebago lakes, adding half a billion dollars to the local economy from ice fishing. WBAY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Marian University announced a two-year tuition guarantee that will keep tuition rates unchanged for current students in 2026–2027 and lock in rates for new undergraduate and transfer students for 2026–2027 and 2027–2028. - ➤ SSM Health RCH Medical Staff is offering three $2,000 scholarships to high school students from Green Lake, Markesan, Princeton or Ripon who plan to pursue a health care career (applications must be postmarked by March 15). Envision Greater FDL

SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Marian University's men’s basketball team rallied from a 12-point deficit to beat Benedictine 72-70 when senior Derek Lindert hit a game-winning jumper with 0.7 seconds left (the win improved Marian’s conference record). Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University men's hockey overcame an early deficit to tie the game 4-4 and secure a 2-1 shootout win over Concordia College, rallying late in the game to improve their shootout record. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian seniors Chelsea King (women’s basketball) and Jaysen Spanbauer (men’s bowling) were named Sabres of the Month for December; King averaged 14.2 points per game while Spanbauer led with a 206.6 pin average. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University women’s basketball lost 84-75 to North Central today in a high-scoring contest. The team hit season highs in three-pointers and assists but struggled with 30 turnovers that led to 24 steals in their first-ever matchup. Envision Greater FDL
