EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Marian University in Fond du Lac recognized 114 students on its President’s List (earning a 4.0 average) and 289 on its Dean’s List (earning a 3.5 average) for Fall 2025 on Monday, Jan. 19. The university celebrated these honors to showcase academic excellence. Envision Greater FDL
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh sees patients at its 114,000 sqft facility at 250 W. 6th Avenue, built with an $84M investment to bring care closer to eastside residents. The campus offers 24/7 services and added a 28,000 sqft expansion creating 60 new jobs. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ The SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary’s Lights of Love fundraiser in 2025 helped fund an automated door at the hospital’s west entrance, costing about $6,100 to improve access for patients and visitors + volunteers using wheelchairs, walkers, and scooters. This upgrade allows staff to remotely open the door for improved mobility assistance. Envision Greater FDL
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Marian University men's hockey (3-11-2, 2-7-0 in NCHA) rallied to force overtime before losing 5-4 to Aurora Tuesday at their home rink. Early goals by Aurora sparked the game as Marian fought back with key efforts from freshman Daxton Lang and Andrew Seminara but fell short in extra time. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University women’s ice hockey beat Aurora 2-1 in overtime at their Fond du Lac rink; junior Kaitlyn Quinn scored in the second period while junior Ella Spies assisted on the game-winning goal (their second consecutive overtime win). Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University's men's hockey team scored first but fell 6-2 to Aurora University; freshman Owen Norman (scoring his first collegiate goal) helped open the scoring before Aurora pulled ahead early in the second period and maintained its lead. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University women’s ice hockey lost 4 to 2 to Bethel as power play mistakes allowed Bethel to seize early momentum and a late short handed goal sealed the loss. Marian struggled with special teams and managed only three shots in the final period (highlighting ongoing vulnerabilities). Envision Greater FDL
