ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Viral posts about exploding trees have raised local interest, but Wisconsin DNR expert Bill McNee said severe cold causes frost cracking in thin-barked trees (like maples and sycamores) rather than full explosions. Forecasts show temperatures will stay above the minus 20 threshold needed for such events. FDL Reporter
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wisconsin law allows drivers to intermittently flash high-beams when they encounter oncoming cars yet requires dimming within 500 feet during low visibility — such as heavy snow. Drivers are urged to follow these guidelines to reduce distracting glare and increase road safety. FDL Reporter
