ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded to a fire in a home on Forest Ave just before 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The blaze was contained to the kitchen after melting a water line, and a cat was rescued and returned to its family while the house remains uninhabitable with Red Cross assistance. WBAY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Officials highlighted Wisconsin's first state-funded child care program during a visit by Department of Children and Families Secretary Jeff Pertl at Jesus' Little Lambs Child Care Center on Wednesday, as nearly 1,400 providers enrolled to support up to 24,000 children for the upcoming school year. - ➤ A Marquette University Law School poll found nearly two-thirds of Wisconsin voters remain undecided in the governor’s race and 70% are concerned about inflation. The survey (Feb. 11 to 19) shows a rematch in the attorney general race between incumbent Josh Kaul and Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney. WBAY
- ➤ WisDOT released findings on Feb. 25 from a UW-Madison-led study showing that salt brine clears highways as safely as rock salt while using (40 to 72 percent less salt). The research supports further brine use in winter road maintenance statewide. KFIZ

- ➤ The SSM Health Behavioral Health clinic on Camelot Drive in Fond du Lac will expand trauma-informed care using a $7,500 grant from the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation that supports clinician training + new EMDR equipment to handle rising demand. FDL Reporter
- ➤ Dr. Salvior Mok from ThedaCare advises residents to adopt small steps—like tracking food intake, choosing whole foods, and taking short walks—to lower chronic inflammation and reduce heart disease risks for long-term wellness. Envision Greater FDL
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Marian men’s basketball beat Concordia Wisconsin 72-52 in the NACC tournament opening round, snapping a five-game losing streak and earning their first tournament win since 2023. - ➤ Senior Noah Pickart earned his second All-NCHA selection, joining Gianni Mangone as the only defensemen with multiple honors at Marian University. In a 27-game season, Pickart tied for seventh with 21 assists & now ranks third in program history for defenseman assists. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian hockey players Ella Spies and Jillian Traver earned All-NCHA honors for their record setting season; Spies, a defenseman from Fond du Lac, helped lead the team to its first postseason win while Traver set win and shutout records, marking the first teammate recognition since 2014-15. - ➤ Marian University men’s volleyball lost to Wisconsin Lutheran in three close sets — 25-22, 25-21, and 25-22 — as both teams traded points until the Warriors took the lead; Marian now has a 4-2 record against WLC. Envision Greater FDL
