ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Mar. 3, a newer I-phone’s crash detection automatically dialed 911 when it sensed a significant impact on Prairie Road (west of Oakfield), prompting emergency responders to quickly locate and treat a driver from a toppled vehicle.  KFIZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Marian University will host the 2026 HEDIT Conference on Thursday, April 9 at the Stayer Center, bringing educators, administrators, and community leaders together to explore inclusion and leadership (keynote by Mohammed Bey with check-in at 8:15 a.m. and lunch at 12:30 p.m.).  Envision Greater FDL
  • Local schools are assessing Wisconsin Assembly Bill 948 that may ban phones during class time. Superintendent Matt Steinbarth has concerns about added costs (while Horace Mann officials favor teaching digital responsibility) as Act 42 renews on July 1 for the new school year.  NBC 26

  • On March 3, lawmakers approved $1.75 million for public instruction but withheld $250K after ruling a water park workshop—held in Wisconsin Dells—routine. The reduced funds may affect DPI operations if staffing adjustments become necessary.  FDL Reporter

HEALTH NEWS

  • ThedaCare is now using a new Guardian HipCheck Surgical Table that reduces complications during arthroscopic hip procedures by replacing a traditional post with boot-like harnesses — a change that expands local access to advanced care for patients with hip pain.  Envision Greater FDL

  • Campbellsport High School's boys basketball team beat North Fond du Lac 75–43 on Tuesday, March 3 in a decisive contest — photos by Amy Ackerman capture key moments of the game.  KFIZ
  • Mercury Marine sponsored 31 state championship and runner-up banners that now hang at Acuity Fieldhouse following a ceremony on March 4 celebrating local athletic achievements & community support.  KFIZ

  • Freshman Kaitlyn Kesler was named CCIW Bowler-of-Week after recording the highest traditional score at the CCIW Spring Event with a 230.7-pin average and a 91-percent fill rate, marking a standout weekend.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian University's softball team lost games to John Jay & Alma, leaving the Sabres on an off day. John Jay won 16 to 5 while Alma won 5 to 1 as errors and hit by pitches affected play.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian University women’s golf kicked off its spring season in Arizona by finishing sixth at the Ottawa Spring Invite. Yinan Lu tied for second (with three birdies) as teammates posted strong improvements in their rounds.  Envision Greater FDL
