  • Farm supply stores and hatcheries in Fond du Lac are seeing high demand for baby chicks as residents plan to raise their own laying hens to lower egg costs—one store sold out a shipment of 150 chicks in less than two hours. Local experts advise buyers to check local rules before ordering since Fond du Lac requires a chicken-keeping permit for up to four hens—other places set different limits.  FDL Reporter
  • Fond du Lac’s Spark Ops Metalworks, a woman-owned and minority-owned business, has grown by making metal parts like trusses for Road America and building Infinite Cubes—modular spaces used in events such as Super Bowl LIX and Aspen’s Snow League.   • Tickets for Brett Michaels’ concert at the Fond du Lac County Fair will go on sale Friday March 21 at 9 a.m.—the performer, known for the 80s band Poison, will play mostly Poison hits along with classic rock songs on July 18 at 8 p.m. at the new National Exchange Bank & Trust stage at the Holiday Automotive Grandstand, part of the fair running July 16 through 20.  KFIZ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Monday night in Green Lake County, crews battled a 750-acre wildfire in the White River Marsh State Wildlife Area while residents like Emma Disterhaft evacuated and helped load nearly 40 animals into trailers—officials said dry conditions and marshy roads slowed equipment access.  WBAY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fond du Lac Municipal Service Center informs residents that the City’s Bulky Waste Drop-Off Site at 490 Doty St will begin summer hours on April 1—Monday will run from 9:00 to 3:15, Tuesday will be closed, Wednesday will run from 10:00 to 6:00, Thursday and Friday will run from 9:00 to 3:15, and Saturday will run from 8:00 to Noon; fees vary by loading method with extra charges for items like Freon and tires. Single-use passes and punch cards will be available at the City Clerk’s office and at the site.  KFIZ
  • The Fond du Lac County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday night at the City-County Government Building on S. Macy St to discuss resolutions for using opioid settlement funds — including funding for medication for an addiction recovery program at the county jail.  WBAY

  • Senior Aaron Velasco of Marian University men’s volleyball was named NACC Defensive Player of the Week after he averaged 4.21 digs per set and recorded a career-high 30 digs in a five-set win at the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational — marking his third award — and Marian will travel to Benedictine tomorrow at 7 p.m. for their next match.  Envision Greater FDL
