CRIME NEWS

  • A 31-year-old Menomonee Falls man was arrested after a 9-mile police pursuit on March 18 that spanned Washington, Fond du Lac and Dodge counties — he now faces charges including first-degree recklessly endangering safety, felony fleeing/eluding and operating while intoxicated-third offense.  FDL Reporter

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Envision Greater Fond du Lac, working with the school district, will host an information session on March 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lakeside Park Pavilion to explain the school funding referendum planned for the April 1 ballot — a measure that would allow the district to exceed its revenue limit by $10 million per year for four years — with funds used to cover operations, maintenance, and security improvements.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Brittany Kinser, an education consultant with strong conservative backing, will challenge current state superintendent Jill Underly on April 1—she has raised over $325,000 and supports school choice, stricter testing standards, and more state aid for schools. Kinser, a former public school principal and charter school director, said rising costs and changes in test scores show a need for a stronger education system.  FDL Reporter

SPORTS NEWS

  • Junior Jackson Sweeny from Marian University earned the NACC Defensive Player of the Week award after making a season-high 20 saves, three caused turnovers and four ground balls in a one-goal win over Clarke on March 19 (Marian secured their first win of the season) and marked his fifth game (with at least 20 saves).  Envision Greater FDL
  • Three student-athletes from the Marian women’s bowling program have been honored by the CCIW. Senior Jocelynn Eggert was named to the All-CCIW First Team for a second time, senior Brenna Schiekiera earned her fourth All-CCIW award and a spot on the First Team again, and sophomore Abby Giddings received the RESPECT Award for her strong character.  Envision Greater FDL
