ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A trailer moving a mobile home got stuck early Wednesday, March 26 on County Highway TC near Liner Road east of Brandon and blocked both lanes, so several semis were caught in traffic while officers closed the road and state patrol looked for violations, with a heavy duty tow company working to remove the blockage. - ➤ Calumet County fire crews responded to a house fire near New Holstein on Honeymoon Hill Road after 2 a.m.—the blaze was out by 5:30 a.m. and firefighters remain on the scene with the house cordoned off with yellow tape while the crew awaits a briefing from the fire chief. WBAY
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Sadie Howell, President/CEO of Envision Greater Fond du Lac, earned certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional from Grow America. Her achievement boosts the organization's ability to guide local business expansion and job creation. Envision Greater FDL
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, the Fond du Lac School District held a press conference to discuss plans to test new AI camera technology that will help secure school entrances — a system that would cost just over $4 million if a referendum on April 1 passes. Superintendent Matt Steinbarth and District Attorney Eric Toney said the technology will first be proven at the high school before being used in other schools. KFIZ
- ➤ Since December, education officials have tracked the superintendent race as incumbent Jill Underly—elected in 2021—faces education consultant Brittany Kinser in debates over vouchers, state testing, teacher shortages and fundraising. The candidates participated in one spring debate and voters will choose on April 1 who will lead oversight for 421 public school districts. FDL Reporter

- ➤ Fond du Lac County will host a Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep on May 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at 1820 South Hickory St.—residents can safely dispose of items like automotive products, household cleaners, and pesticides. Farms and businesses must preregister by April 30, while households pay $5 per vehicle with cash only. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ West Division Street between Boardman and Hickory will close from 7 a.m. March 31 until the end of April 4 for water utility repairs and pavement restoration—Fond du Lac’s Department of Public Works announced the closure to support necessary maintenance. FDL Reporter
- ➤ A bill was introduced in the state legislature on March 26th to allow hunters to control sandhill cranes to help farmers protect corn crops and receive crop damage funds. The DNR will use permits and set up closed zones — that keep other birds like whooping cranes safe — if the measure passes. KFIZ
