CRIME NEWS

  • On March 29, 2025, 48-year-old Michael Kimmons was sentenced at Fond du Lac County Circuit Court to 8 years in prison and 10 years extended supervision for a First Degree Reckless Homicide conviction linked to a fentanyl and cocaine overdose death on January 5, 2021 after he arranged a drug deal where the victim used a Covid stimulus check to pay.  KFIZ
  • Taylor Schabusiness, already convicted of a February murder, was found competent to stand trial in Fond du Lac County for a July 24 attack at Taycheedah Correctional where she first attacked a nurse and then swung a metal tray at a guard who stepped in to help, and her preliminary hearing is set to take place on April 4.  KFIZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • In 2024, weights and measures staff inspected over 6,000 business locations, calibrated more than 15,000 physical standards, and issued orders to correct pricing errors. These efforts — including checking grocery store scanners and fuel pumps — helped ensure Fond du Lac residents paid fair prices for everyday purchases.  KFIZ
  • A Madison appeals court rejected Attorney General Josh Kaul’s request on Saturday to block Elon Musk from giving two voters $1 million checks today, and Kaul may ask the state Supreme Court for further intervention.  FDL Reporter
