ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fond du Lac Police said on April 7 that a man aged 38 from Fond du Lac lost control on Pioneer Road and his car flipped—he was airlifted to Froedtert Medical Center in Milwaukee—and hours later a woman aged 20 from Neenah had a rollover when she missed a bend, receiving treatment at the scene for non-serious injuries.  KFIZ

CRIME NEWS

  • After a five-day trial at Fond du Lac County Circuit Court, 39-year-old Christopher Hoerth was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide for giving fentanyl to his sister on May 6th, 2020—he now faces over 30 years in confinement with a sentencing date pending.  KFIZ
  • The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help identifying a reckless motorcycle driver involved in the April 5 incident, when he drove 124 mph on Lakeshore Drive and 134 mph on I-41—after two suspects were identified, officers are still seeking the third.  KFIZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tracy Lawrence, a country music star, will perform on the National Exchange Bank — Trust stage at the Holiday Automotive Grandstand on Saturday, July 19 at 8 p.m. Tickets for his show go on sale Friday at 9 a.m. as the Fond du Lac County Fair runs from July 16 through 20.  KFIZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Marian University’s Koonce Scholars Program raised $250,000 to match a Packers Foundation grant and brought total support to $500,000 to help low-income students access higher education. The campaign reached its goal a year early thanks to multiple donors—among them a $100,000 gift from Drexel Building Supply known for supporting the community.  Envision Greater FDL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Fond du Lac began road enhancements on Main Street from 6th to Merrill starting the week of April 7 using temporary lane closures to keep sidewalks and business entrances open. The two-phase project will mill and repave the road on North Main in late April and then South Main, and is set to finish on September 6 — improving safety and drivability.  Envision Greater FDL

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, the American Red Cross is urging local donors to give blood to keep supplies steady during travel season while offering incentives to encourage donations (a $15 Amazon gift card for donations through April 13 and entry into a drawing for a $5,000 gift card if donated by April 15). Donors who give blood from April 14 to April 30 will receive a T-shirt and can visit the blood drive at the Iola-Scandinavia Fitness and Aquatic Center from 12 to 5 p.m. (local drives help maintain the critical blood supply).  WBAY

SPORTS NEWS

  • Senior Tanner Alsteen of Marian University baseball was named the NACC Pitcher of the Week after throwing a shutout against Edgewood and limiting hits in relief against Dominican—amassing 13 innings with just one unearned run. The team will travel to St. Norbert for a noon conference doubleheader later.  Envision Greater FDL
