COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fond du Lac will host the Earth Fair at Founders Hall at the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; visitors will explore interactive exhibits on sustainability including paper making, craft activities and walk and talk tours starting at quarter past every hour. Organizers say the family friendly event will take place rain or shine.  KFIZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wisconsin DNR warns that high fire risk remains in many areas this week after 63 wildfires burned 135 acres over the weekend. Burn permits stay suspended in 24 counties and crews—plus Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter teams—are ready to respond as spring fire season begins.  WBAY
  • The City of Fond du Lac provided a weekly update on construction projects inside the corporate boundary as posted on its website—projects include Main Street resurfacing starting at the end of April and gas main and service work on N Butler and Poplar Streets running through October. Work is weather dependent and traffic remains open with only minor disruptions to local businesses.  KFIZ
  • The Fond du Lac County Board declared April 13-19 as Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to honor those at the Sheriff's Office-run Communications Center, which handles over 367 calls daily (including more than 215 CAD calls) from multiple emergency services. The observance recognizes their key role in keeping our community safe.  KFIZ

  • SSM Health Laboratories lab support technician Kevin Cushing—recognized for his teamwork—has been named the newest recipient of the BEE Award for going above and beyond when assisting lab staff during a stressful night. His colleagues nominated him for his quick responses and tireless effort in supporting patient care.  Envision Greater FDL
  • SSM Health Cancer Care in Fond du Lac has received national accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and now meets strict standards for top quality cancer care. The facility will undergo a site visit every three years and join the ACS Surgical Quality Partner program—ensuring patients receive safe care.  Envision Greater FDL

SPORTS NEWS

  • Marian University softball swept CUW with scores of 4-0 and 5-2, earning its first series win over the Falcons since 2009. Senior Kerena Wood and Kendall Pliner hit key runs while Sabrina DiVito pitched a seven-inning shutout in game one — the win marked Marian’s first road victory over CUW since 2013.  Envision Greater FDL
