EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents selected Manohar Singh as the new chancellor of UW-Oshkosh, effective July 1. He comes from Western Connecticut State University—where he served as interim president and led efforts to stabilize finances and enrollment. FDL Reporter
- ➤ The Fond du Lac School District announced two new position changes this week. Nathan Brunnbauer was promoted to assistant principal at Sabish Middle School after three years on special assignment at Parkside Elementary, and Steven Rosencrans will become assistant principal at Fond du Lac High School after serving as interim during the 2024-25 school year — officials reported. - ➤ The Fond du Lac School District announced Monday, April 14 that a failed $40 million referendum forced it to cut 83 positions and lay off 27 staff. The board voted in executive session—teacher wages were not frozen and schools were not closed. KFIZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Moraine Park Technical College and Fond du Lac County signed an agreement for a DOJ-accredited Jail Academy to train correctional officers locally — reducing wait times and statewide training costs. The academy will use classroom spaces at the new Public Safety Training Center, and 18 students will begin the program this fall. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Fond du Lac is starting many road projects as Main Street will be resurfaced later this month and county highways are being repaved while I-41 will be resurfaced and have its culverts replaced by October — drivers should expect lane closures and detours. The city is updating work progress weekly — commuters are advised to check local sources for changes. FDL Reporter
- ➤ Gov. Evers and WEDC announced nearly $3.2 million in grants today to help small business growth on Main Streets statewide. The City of Fond du Lac will receive $215,000 to expand its programs for storefront improvements and startup support — funds aimed at boosting local business opportunities. Envision Greater FDL
