ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On April 18th just before 6:20 a.m., a lightning bolt hit a house at N3330 Radio Road in southwest Fond du Lac County and started a fire—firefighters from Alto, Waupun, Brandon Fairwater, and Rapid Intervention Team 3 along with Lifestar EMS responded while deputies and a Waupun police officer managed traffic.  KFIZ

CRIME NEWS

  • A 37-year-old De Pere woman—out on bond for drug charges in Brown County—was arrested on Interstate 41 in Fond du Lac County when a deputy stopped her and searched her vehicle, finding narcotics, unprescribed medication, drug paraphernalia and a digital scale; she now remains in jail with a $30,000 bond.  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fr. Ryan Pruess of the Holy Family Catholic Community is hosting a free movie screening of The Passion of the Christ today at 10 a.m. at Odyssey Cinemas at 1131 W. Scott Street in Fond du Lac.  KFIZ
  • Wade House Historic Site has acquired an original restored stagecoach from 1875 from a west coast collection and will dedicate it May 3—providing visitors a new piece of our local heritage.  FDL Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled on Friday that Governor Tony Evers can use his veto power to give public schools an extra $325 per student until 2425—this means schools will get more money for 400 years. Some lawmakers and business leaders say they oppose the change, arguing that it gives the governor too much power.  WBAY
  • The southbound lane of North Brooke Street in Fond du Lac will close at 6 a.m. April 22 for concrete pavement restoration—residents will retain property access—and drivers are urged to seek alternate routes until it reopens at 3 p.m. April 29.  FDL Reporter

HEALTH NEWS

  • In 2024, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported that overall STI cases fell while syphilis cases jumped 1,400% from 2019, with over half the infections occurring in people aged 15 to 24. The agency warned that untreated syphilis in pregnant women can risk severe health problems for babies and urged testing and treatment.  WBAY
