ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On April 18th, a wrong way driver on Highway 151 crashed head-on near State Highway 73 when a 22-year-old female from Beaver Dam was killed and her two teenage passengers sustained serious injuries—one was taken to Prairie Ridge Hospital and the other to UW-Health while a 37-year-old Fond du Lac driver in the opposing vehicle received non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Prairie Ridge Hospital. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Fond du Lac Police and the County Sheriff’s office responded to a shots fired call on the 100 block of Sibley Street on April 18 and found no gunshot or weapon—neighbors with a long-standing dispute were involved. KFIZ
- ➤ On April 18, police responded to a rollover crash on Mill Pond Road near Oakfield when a 19-year-old driver, who had been drinking and told a witness not to call the police, fled the scene and was later found walking along the road and arrested for operating while intoxicated (he refused medical treatment). KFIZ
- ➤ Wisconsin drivers received text messages saying they owed tolls — but the links lead to fake websites that try to steal private information — and officials urge people to check with the toll agency before paying anything. KFIZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials announced that three road projects are underway in Fond du Lac this week. Main Street will see utility replacements including fiber installation from April 7 through Aug. 29, North Butler Street is closed from Division to Russell as water main installation begins, and Poplar Street remains open for gas main work (with minor traffic disruptions expected). FDL Reporter
- ➤ Fond du Lac Public Works announced that the southbound lane of N. Brooke Street between Arndt and Follett will close Tuesday, April 22 at 6 a.m. for concrete pavement restoration and remain closed until 3:00 p.m. on April 29—residents near the road will still have access, and motorists are urged to plan alternate routes—since no detour is signed.
