COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary will host its ninth annual spring flower basket sale on Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6 from 9:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. outside the hospital’s main entrance; the sale offers specially grown hanging baskets for $28 each with cash, checks, or credit cards and all proceeds support hospital programs.  Envision Greater FDL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • NEW Manufacturing Alliance will host a Future of Work Succession Planning Summit on May 2 with keynote speaker Todd Hudson, a Talent Risk and Knowledge Transfer Expert—he will lead breakout sessions on training talent, supporting the female pipeline, and assessing leadership readiness—offering actionable strategies for companies to improve succession planning.  Envision Greater FDL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Marian University will hold a prayer service at 3 p.m. today in Dorcas Chapel to honor Pope Francis, who died Monday at 88 from a stroke and heart failure—University President Aaron Sadoff urged the community to reflect on his legacy of humility, service, and social justice.  FDL Reporter

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction did not sign the federal anti-DEI certification request—saying the order is unclear and could risk school funding. The DPI submitted certifications for Title VI, Title IX and FERPA as local superintendents agreed that current practices already meet antidiscrimination laws.  FDL Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, southbound North Main Street between Merrill Avenue and Division Street will be closed from noon to 3 p.m.—city crews will install water services under the Main Street Resurfacing project. The work will affect Main and Court streets through spring and summer, and drivers are advised to use alternate routes.  FDL Reporter
  • Tom Frantz, a natural-born citizen from Neenah, received an email from DHS on April 11 telling him to leave the country—he soon contacted Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s office and the error was fixed. Baldwin called the notice completely illegal and urged anyone who gets a similar message to seek help.  FDL Reporter
  • The southbound lane of N. Main Street between Merrill Avenue and Division Street is closed today from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for water service installations as part of the Main Street Rehabilitation project – motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes – while downtown businesses and residents retain access to their properties.  Envision Greater FDL

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In March, Fond du Lac County’s median home listing price rose to $374,900 (a 6.4% increase from February) while homes stayed on the market for 51 days. Data also shows 92 new listings—a 35.3% jump from last March—with homes averaging 1,740 square feet at $200 per square foot.  FDL Reporter

  • Marian University softball earned its first sweep over Aurora with shutout wins of 8-0 in six innings and 4-0 in the second game—marking the program’s first mercy-rule win. The Sabres are 9-38 all-time against Aurora but have won the last three meetings.  Envision Greater FDL
