- ➤ Downtown Fond du Lac Farmers Market received part of a $25,750 grant from Compeer Financial’s Compeer Giving program—this funding supports marketing, tech, education and community engagement projects at farmers markets across Wisconsin. KFIZ

- ➤ Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce opened nominations on Wednesday, Apr. 22 for its annual Business Friend of the Environment Awards—eligible companies that improved energy efficiency, reduced waste, or implemented sustainable practices in 2025 can apply until June 12. Envision Greater FDL
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Peniel Welsh Chapel near Eldorado was added to the National Register of Historic Places after a year-long nomination process. Built in 1856 and still hosting special events despite closing regular services in the 1970s, the chapel will hold a celebration on the fourth weekend of August — a nod to the community’s heritage. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Camp Invention, a national STEM program for grades K-6, will offer hands-on activities at Friendship Learning Center the week of June 15 — including DIY rocket building and prototype creation to boost problem-solving skills. FDL Reporter
- ➤ Today, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction recognized 95 schools for the 2024-25 year through its Schools of Recognition program; Fond du Lac schools like Evans, Parkside, Sabish, and Woodworth earned High Impact honors (Oakfield earned High Progress and Washington Elementary earned High Achieving in Dodge County). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city announced that Western Avenue will be closed between Main Street and Military Road and Macy Street will be closed (from Court Street to Western Avenue) beginning April 27 for road reconstruction in Fond du Lac. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Youth-led Miles 4 Minds 4K Run/Walk will take place Saturday, May 30 at Fond du Lac County Campus, 400 University Drive. The event partners with SSM Health and local groups to offer a free mental health awareness fair that supports youth and family well-being. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Two SSM Health nurses were nominated by UW Oshkosh for Nightingale Awards on April 23. Shae Lueptow from Ripon Community Hospital earned a Nursing Excellence nomination, and Annette Kottke from St. Agnes Hospital earned a Nurse Leader nomination that recognized their expertise and commitment to care. - ➤ According to Zumper data, Fond du Lac's median rent held at $999 in March (one bedroom rentals remained at $850 and two bedroom listings dropped 9% from last year). Rental rates stay well below statewide and national averages. FDL Reporter

- ➤ Marian men’s lacrosse ended its 2026 season with a 16-4 loss to Lawrence, as sophomore Benett Luke recorded his second hat trick and Jackson Sweeney finished his career with 861 saves (second all-time in NACC). The game marked a challenging season for the Sabres. Envision Greater FDL
