Good morning, Fond du Lac. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 2nd of May.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • SSM Health donated $20,000 to the Fondy Food Pantry’s Food for Thought program, which supplies weekend food bags and daily snacks to over 1,000 children in Fond du Lac, Eden, Campbellsport and Ripon school districts. The donation was given by Bill Boyd and Tami Schattschneider — a key boost for healthy student nutrition — to help ensure that children do not go hungry on the weekends.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Beginning today, Holy Family Catholic Community and SSM Health will hold a monthly Mass at noon in the St. Agnes Chapel at St. Agnes Hospital, open to hospital staff and the public. Attendees may also schedule a personal Mass intention for $20 each — a service provided for all who wish to share in the celebration.  KFIZ
  • April brought busy news for Fond du Lac as local elections resulted in new school board and city council members and the school district later cut 83 positions after a failed referendum—other stories saw ThedaCare Medical Center open a new facility on Johnson Street, Wendy's return to a former Hardee's location, and a bear visit Rolling Meadows Golf Course.  FDL Reporter

  • Fond du Lac will soon have a new option for electric bikes and golf carts as Small Town EV finishes refurbishing an old building on the city’s far west side for its second store location. • On May 1, Moraine Park Technical College awarded 57 construction and industrial trade apprentices a $2,000 scholarship from Ascendium’s Tools of the Trade Program to help pay for equipment, tools, clothing and tuition. The program—having awarded over $6 million in scholarships in 12 years—has helped remove financial barriers for students.  KFIZ
