COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ SSM Health donated $20,000 to the Fondy Food Pantry’s Food for Thought program, which supplies weekend food bags and daily snacks to over 1,000 children in Fond du Lac, Eden, Campbellsport and Ripon school districts. The donation was given by Bill Boyd and Tami Schattschneider — a key boost for healthy student nutrition — to help ensure that children do not go hungry on the weekends. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Beginning today, Holy Family Catholic Community and SSM Health will hold a monthly Mass at noon in the St. Agnes Chapel at St. Agnes Hospital, open to hospital staff and the public. Attendees may also schedule a personal Mass intention for $20 each — a service provided for all who wish to share in the celebration. KFIZ
- ➤ April brought busy news for Fond du Lac as local elections resulted in new school board and city council members and the school district later cut 83 positions after a failed referendum—other stories saw ThedaCare Medical Center open a new facility on Johnson Street, Wendy's return to a former Hardee's location, and a bear visit Rolling Meadows Golf Course. - ➤ Fond du Lac will soon have a new option for electric bikes and golf carts as Small Town EV finishes refurbishing an old building on the city’s far west side for its second store location. The company will hold a grand opening on May 5 at N6296 south Rolling Meadows Drive (10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with free tacos during the lunch hour for Cinco de Mayo). KFIZ

- ➤ Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Project G.R.I.L.L. will host its annual unveiling event on May 9 at Festival Foods in Fond du Lac where high school students will display their grills, compete for Best in Show & Community Choice Awards, and have academic scholarships announced. Guests can also purchase food at Festival Brat Barn with funds raised going back into the program. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ On May 1, Moraine Park Technical College awarded 57 construction and industrial trade apprentices a $2,000 scholarship from Ascendium’s Tools of the Trade Program to help pay for equipment, tools, clothing and tuition. The program—having awarded over $6 million in scholarships in 12 years—has helped remove financial barriers for students. KFIZ

- ➤ Hummingbirds are returning to Wisconsin as an interactive map shows Ruby-throated sightings in every county and bird watchers in Fond du Lac reported them on April 28th. The first sighting was on April 17th in Eagle River — marking an early start to the migration — and residents now track the birds as they move north. FDL Reporter

- ➤ Aurora Health Care added endocrinologist Laura Andrews, MD to its team at the North Fond du Lac center on Park Ridge Lane to meet increasing patient demand—she completed her training in Milwaukee and now focuses on thyroid care. Envision Greater FDL
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Senior Nicole Stachon and Tanner Alsteen were named the Sabres of the Month for April at Marian, with Stachon totaling 40 points — 34 goals and six assists — and Alsteen posting a 2.76 ERA on the mound. Marian baseball will close the regular season today at noon against Wisconsin Lutheran at Herr-Baker Field, setting the stage for the NACC Tournament push. Envision Greater FDL
