- ➤ Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue will host its annual brat and burger fry this Friday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station number 1 at 815 south Main Street to support the American Red Cross (pre-orders are available by phone or online) with prices starting at $4. KFIZ
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Diesel fuel set a state record on Monday with an average price of $5.66 per gallon, beating the previous record from June 2022 with local records in Fond du Lac, Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh and Sheboygan; AAA Wisconsin said high demand and production challenges pushed prices higher. WBAY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Riverside Elementary reopened a week and a half after a tornado forced temporary classes at the Greenheck Turner Community Center. Staff and students are adjusting to repairs on two classrooms as they return to their normal routine with a couple of weeks left in the school year. WBAY
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Jason Calkins, a 27-year veteran of Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue, started a health overhaul after an August exam revealed high blood pressure, severe obesity, and diabetes. He has lost 145 pounds by following an ultra-low-carb diet and daily walks with his dog—Hoss, who motivates his fitness routine. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ A $10,000 donation from the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation will provide age-appropriate books to pediatric patients at SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic during well‑child visits. - ➤ ThedaCare Medical Center in Fond du Lac celebrated its first anniversary May 4 at 755 West Johnson Street. The center provides emergency, inpatient, imaging, lab and specialty care as part of an integrated system, noted VP Jenny Nikolai. KFIZ

- ➤ Marian University Sabres split a doubleheader with Lakeland by winning 3-2 in game one and losing 6-3 in game two. Junior Mackenzie Christofferson (marking her 10th game with double-digit putouts) played a key role as the team readies for two regular-season games. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University softball (17-17, 14-8 NACC) split a doubleheader on Friday at St. Norbert, falling 8-5 before rallying to win 9-4 in the second game. Sophomore Macey Pease and senior Ariana Schliepp drove in key runs as the Green Knights used four pitchers in game one. Envision Greater FDL
