- ➤ The Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Club hosted its annual Scholars Luncheon on May 8, where over 200 local students with a 3.25 GPA or higher were recognized for academic achievements. Each high school picked a volunteer of the year who received a $250 donation to a charity of their choice—supporting local groups such as Treffert Way for the Exceptional Mind and Habitat for Humanity. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Fond du Lac County recorded 683 deer crashes in 2024—up from 571 the previous year—and ranked sixth on the state list as the Wisconsin Department of Transportation noted that collisions tend to rise in May and June when deer move to give birth and leave their mothers. KFIZ

- ➤ Bishop David Ricken held a press conference after white smoke from the Sistine Chapel signaled the election of Pope Leo XIV as the first American pope. Father John Girotti said he is honored by the news (which now leads 1.4 billion Catholics) as local church members celebrated the historic choice. WBAY

- ➤ Marian University baseball defeated Concordia Wisconsin 2-0 in the NACC Tournament opener, recording just two hits in a game that lasted 1:49. The Falcons opened the scoring in the third inning and added a run in the eighth to earn their first postseason win since 2021 & improved their all-time record against CUW to 50-35.
