COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue hosted its annual brat and burger fry on Friday, May 8 at Fire Station #1, 815 south Main Street to benefit the American Red Cross while photos showed the community coming together for a day of good food and fundraising.  KFIZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bessie Allen Middle School’s Tech-No Logic robotics team returned from the VEX V5 Robotics World Championship in St. Louis after finishing 35th of 84 teams — the top ranking team from Wisconsin. The eighth-grade team earned their spot after strong results at the state championships in Green Bay on March 6 and 7.  KFIZ
  • On Friday, May 8, Oakfield High/Middle School was evacuated after a strange odor was detected; emergency responders, along with utility crews, arrived to search the building, and authorities advised parents not to go to the area.  KFIZ
  • Several schools showcased their Project Grill entries on Friday, May 8 at Festival Foods parking lot where students turned ideas into working grills. Best in Show + Community Choice Awards were given as part of the contest and the grills were open for public judging.  KFIZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, May 8, the Pentagon released never-before-seen UFO files featuring blurry images and videos from multiple agencies, while six UFO sightings have been reported in Wisconsin this year. The files will be updated on a rolling basis.  FDL Reporter
  • On April 30, the U.S. House passed a new five-year farm bill that moves next to the Senate, prompting Wisconsin farm groups and the Cheese Makers Association in Fond du Lac to welcome the support while urging swift Senate review to prevent a dairy cliff plus safeguard local agriculture.  FDL Reporter

HEALTH NEWS

  • SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital earned the Excellence in Tissue Donation Award from UW Health Organ and Tissue Donation in late April, recognizing its achievement of a 60% family authorization rate for organ and tissue donations.
