- ➤ Salute the Troops will host its annual race on Saturday, May 24 which includes a 10K, Dobogai Memorial 5K, Brandon Michael Memorial Ruck March + kids fun run at Oven Island at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac. Proceeds from the races will benefit veterans and their families in the Fox Valley. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ The Downtown Fond du Lac Farmers' Market opens May 17 and runs Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon through Oct. 25, shifting its location due to Main Street construction—starting between Western Avenue and First Street until June 21, then moving to First and Division streets from June 28, and finally returning to its normal location from Sept. 13. Special events include Dairy Day on June 7 — along with $10 Match Days for EBT Market Bucks, live music from local artists, and a pet-friendly policy. FDL Reporter
- ➤ Today, the YMCA posted the 2025 Summer Program Guide online with summer activities for all ages, noting that registration began for Y members on May 12 and will open for community participants on May 19+ families can use the guide to plan their summer. Envision Greater FDL
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded at 11:53 a.m. Monday to a controlled burn in a yard that spread to railroad tracks on Western Ave and quickly put out the fire while warning the homeowner with a copy of the city's burn ordinance — the department reminded residents nearly half of Wisconsin's wildfires are caused by intentional burning amid dry conditions. - ➤ Envision Greater Fond du Lac hosted a ribbon cutting today at Small Town EV's new showroom at N6296 S. Rolling Meadows Drive to celebrate its opening; the business sells electric bikes + street legal golf carts and provides rental options while owner Kevin Boon said locally built products with strong warranties aim to help more residents try eco-friendly rides. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Area law enforcement will hold a Police Memorial Ceremony at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hamilton Park to honor fallen officers by having family members place flowers on the memorial. Officers will also join the 13th annual cop on a rooftop event Friday at Dunkin Donuts on west Johnson Street from 6 a.m. to noon to raise money for Special Olympics Wisconsin + donors receive a coupon for an iced coffee or donut. - ➤ A small fire on May 12 on Western Avenue near the railroad tracks was quickly extinguished by Fond du Lac Fire Rescue after a resident burned yard waste, and the resident was issued a warning. The department reminded locals of safety rules—such as never leaving a fire unattended and using only approved materials under the city burn ordinance. FDL Reporter

- ➤ Former Fond du Lac Dock Spiders infielder Tim Elko made his MLB debut for the Chicago White Sox on May 10 at Rate Field in Chicago against the Miami Marlins — he went 0-for-3 and became the seventh Dock Spiders player to join the majors. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Five Marian softball players earned All-NACC honors this season—junior Ariana Schliepp made the Second Team while sophomores Erin Cowe, Sabrina Di Vito, and McKenna Repovich and senior Kendall Pliner received Honorable Mention; their strong plays with hits, pitching, and fielding boosted the Sabres over the season.
