- ➤ Van Ert Electric is expanding its Fond du Lac operations by acquiring a larger facility at 415 Trowbridge Drive and will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 + an open house with a light lunch will follow to mark the company's growth driven by strong client trust and team performance. - ➤ Eight local artists began working on murals as part of the Art Lot project at a shared parking lot on 13 Fourth St.—community members can watch the work from 10 a.m. to noon on May 17 during the first Downtown Fond du Lac Farmers Market. FDL Reporter
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Fond du Lac School District announced changes for the 2025-26 school year after Sabish Middle School principal Alex Garcia accepted another position, naming current Rosenow principal Matt Wolfert as Sabish principal and appointing Amanda Kelm as assistant principal. Nathan Brunnbauer will become Rosenow principal—while the district will not fill Mrs. Kelm’s former New Teacher Support and Retention Supervisor role to help reduce the operating budget. KFIZ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A low pressure system will move northeast from the central plains, bringing moist air and scattered severe storms to Fond du Lac Thursday afternoon, May 15. Forecast models show a narrow risk for tornadoes (making safety planning important) as KFIZ continues to update the forecast. KFIZ
- ➤ Dry weather has left much of Wisconsin at risk for wildland fires, with Fond du Lac County in a high risk area as of May 13. Officials say fire danger remains high—residents planning outdoor burning should wait for rain. KFIZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue Department reminded residents of the city burn ordinance after a homeowner’s careless burning on May 12th sparked a small vegetation fire along railroad tracks near Western Avenue. The department said residents should burn only clean wood in approved containers and avoid burning city brush & urged cooperation to prevent wildfires. KFIZ
- ➤ The Wisconsin DOT sells driver information through the DMV, including names, addresses & driving records, and earns millions each year while companies like LexisNexis Risk Solutions buy records for insurance & research; locals say they were unaware of this practice and note that drivers can opt out to keep their details private.
