- ➤ Local police in Fond du Lac, Waupun and Oakfield are hosting bike rodeos to teach kids safe riding habits as warmer weather nears—each event offers safety talks, bike inspections and skills courses. Fond du Lac’s rodeo is at Theisen Middle School on June 17th from noon to 3 p.m. for kids ages 5-11 with preregistration due by June 10th; Waupun’s event is on June 6th from 1 to 3 p.m. for kids 12 and under, and Oakfield is holding its ride on May 28th from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for all ages. - ➤ Nikki Murray, formerly of Fond du Lac but now living in California, won the $50,000 cash prize from over 4,500 tickets sold on May 14—supporting the SSM Health Samaritan Clinic that serves around 500 underinsured patients—and several Fond du Lac residents won prizes ranging from $500 to $10,000. - ➤ Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Agri-Business Council will host its 36th annual Breakfast on the Farm — held at Pollack Dairy LLC on N9017 Van Dyne Road — on Sunday, June 22 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The event will offer a country-style breakfast with eggs, ham and cheese, pork sausage, pancakes and applesauce — tickets are $10 for ages 13 and up, $8 for ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under — along with farm tours, cheese tasting and a petting zoo to celebrate National Dairy Month. - ➤ Annaka Trudell, the 21-year-old woman, was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide for fatally stabbing 33-year-old Ashley Calo in Fond du Lac over an attempted drug deal last year—a sentencing hearing has not been scheduled. TMJ-4

- ➤ Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Agri-Business Council selected winners for the Fond du Lac Area Agri-Business Council Scholarship and the Fond du Lac Area Foundation Harold Reinecke Scholarship on May 14. Recipients include Maya Wiltzius of Fond du Lac, Neil Venhuizen of Waupun, McKinley Krueger of Campbellsport, Nevaeh Galligan of Fond du Lac, and Morgan Yahr of Campbellsport + Venhuizen was honored by both awards. - ➤ Audubon is hosting free outdoor adventures in June across Fond du Lac County—attendees can join guided walks, farm visits, and foraging events to learn about local nature. Organizers advise visitors to wear proper shoes, bring insect repellent, and reserve spots for events with limited space. KFIZ
- ➤ Lake flies are back on Fond du Lac lakes as these tiny six-millimeter insects without mouths appear each spring and live for one to three weeks—anglers say they help attract crappies and bluegill while supporting the lake ecosystem. WBAY

- ➤ May is Mental Health Awareness Month and NAMI Fond du Lac County is offering free support groups and resource tables at local spots to educate residents about mental health and reduce stigma — Sue Mitchell Metz, the executive coordinator, said that comparing brain care to heart care helps show that proper therapy or medication can improve well-being.
