COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Fond du Lac Farmers Market opened May 16 and runs Saturdays on Main Street through Oct. 31 (8 a.m. to noon). The market features 160 vendors, live music, a Market Bucks program for cash and EBT shoppers, and does not allow pets except service animals. FDL Reporter

- ➤ Envision Greater Fond du Lac held a ribbon cutting today to open The Creative Studio (a new branch of Quilting Legacies with painting classes, pottery, and sewing parties) that offers makers a fresh space to learn and create. KFIZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Moraine Park Foundation received a $50,000 gift from the National Exchange Bank Foundation on May 21 to honor its 50th anniversary. It has supported over $5million in scholarships and invites the community to back its $50 for 50 initiative. KFIZ
- ➤ On May 21, six area high school seniors were awarded SSM Health volunteer scholarships to pursue careers in health care. The awards include technical school scholarships and funds from SSM Health Volunteers — including one from SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital Volunteers. FDL Reporter
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources now requires riders 12 and older to take a state safety course before riding ATVs and UTVs as Memorial Day weekend nears and trail use grows — a move meant to help reduce bad crashes. Riders can register on the DNR website. KFIZ
- ➤ WisDOT advises motorists to plan ahead as work zones and detours may delay travel today and over Memorial Day weekend (details available on the free 511WI app). AAA projects high road use with peak hours today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday from noon to 5 p.m. KFIZ

- ➤ A Marshfield Clinic Research Institute project found that 51% of over 700 ticks gathered this spring carried the Lyme disease bacteria (experts urge quick removal within 24 hours to reduce infection risk). KFIZ
- ➤ SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital earned a prestigious CMS 5-star Quality Rating, joining only 384 hospitals nationwide in 2026. The rating reflects its commitment to providing safe and compassionate care for the local community. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ SSM Health leader DeAnn Thurmer received the 2026 Rural Health Ambassador Award from the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative for more than 40 years of rural health care service in communities (Baraboo, Ripon and Waupun).
