  • On Sunday, June 28, Envision Greater Fond du Lac will host Breakfast on the Farm at Tower View Acres in Mount Calvary, featuring local dairy products and farm tours as part of Wisconsin’s June Dairy Month. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hyundai announced a recall of 421,000 2025-2026 Santa Cruz and Tucson vehicles after a software issue led to four crashes and injuries. Owners will be notified mid-July + receive a free update at local dealerships.  KFIZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Heidel House Hotel & Conference Center was named Best North Central Venue by Wisconsin Bride in its 2026 Best of Awards—its first award since joining the contest. EDUCATION NEWS

  • ThedaCare finished a 2,200 sqft Simulation Lab that trained 70 nurse externs this month and will welcome its first graduate medical education residents from July 1 at its regional facility.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian University is accepting applications for Fall 2026 enrollment, inviting prospective undergraduate, graduate, and transfer students to apply now as classes begin in late August.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Three area high school seniors (Ginger Austin from Markesan, McKenzie Nodolf from Ripon, and Nicholas Talma from Markesan) were awarded $2,000 scholarships by SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Medical Staff for health care careers; they will attend University of Northwestern – St. Paul, Clarke University and Moraine Park Technical College.  Envision Greater FDL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wisconsin DNR is asking to let anglers keep any dead round goby from Lake Winnebago to help combat this invasive species. If approved and signed by the governor, the rule will take effect immediately.  WBAY
  • Fond du Lac and RecycleThatStuff.com will host a one-week electronic recycling event from Monday, June 15 through Saturday, June 20 at the Municipal Service Center on Doty Street from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. TVs, microwaves, and copy machines will be priced while small electronics are accepted free (cash only).  KFIZ
  • The Lower Fox River cleanup ended in 2020 after 17 years and $1.3 billion was spent to remove roughly 6.5 million cubic yards of PCB-contaminated sediment from a 39-mile stretch. EPA and state officials certified the project complete in early 2023 (long-term fish safety monitoring will continue).  FDL Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Due to Memorial Day and mechanical issues, the City of Fond du Lac Municipal Service Center said garbage scheduled for Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday; residents with other days will have service as scheduled & recycling collection will be delayed by one day.  KFIZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Scot Meisenheimer, who helped remove toxic PCB sediment from the Fox River, was later diagnosed with aggressive cancers after safety rules failed to protect him. He reached a workers’ compensation deal to cover future medical bills as he continues to seek answers about his exposure.  FDL Reporter
