- ➤ Dozens of veterans on the Old Glory Honor Flight visited war memorials in Washington, D.C. and will return home today as their plane is scheduled to land at Appleton International Airport at 10:30 p.m.—families and local supporters are eagerly awaiting their return. WBAY
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ One man from Fond du Lac died and two others were injured when his SUV, attempting a left turn, was struck by a dump truck at approximately 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at the intersection of County Highway B and County Highway K in the Town of Eden — the crash sent vehicles into nearby ditches as investigators continue to review the scene. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Jeffrey Fleig retired on May 20th after four years as superintendent—during which the school district improved its ranking from 375th to 205th and all schools met expectations in the 2023-24 year. The Board of Education welcomed Mr. Matt Steinbarth as the new superintendent to further increase student achievement. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ Governor Tony Evers visited Oshkosh on Tuesday wearing a safety vest and picking up a shovel during his annual pothole patrol to show his budget plan that will add more funds for road repairs. He said the plan has bipartisan support even as lawmakers continue debating the proposals. WBAY

- ➤ Ginger Giebel, RN, a clinical operations manager at SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic, was honored with the first DAISY Leader Award for her compassionate leadership that prioritizes patient care and supports staff plus strengthens community trust.
