ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Secretary Randy Romanski of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture proclaimed that Wisconsin is the world’s Dairyland in honor of National Dairy Month this June. He noted that the state’s dairy industry is expanding internationally—with growing markets in Mexico and Thailand boosting local economic opportunities. KFIZ
- ➤ WMC Foundation released a new video series that examines Wisconsin’s economic challenges, including high-tax rankings, low reading levels, and strict regulations. - ➤ Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development announced WisTRAIN, a grant program offering over $7 million for job training in advanced manufacturing and AI for employers statewide. - ➤ Two dozen new doctors graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin on Thursday, including Drake Best, the first military graduate from its Green Bay campus. Drake Best was commissioned as a Navy lieutenant and is headed to Camp Pendleton to begin a family medicine internship. WBAY

- ➤ The DNR is asking residents to share feedback on Great Lakes beach use to update the state beach list and secure federal funding for E. coli monitoring (feedback must be submitted by Dec. 31 via email or phone). FDL Reporter

- ➤ Gov Tony Evers declared June 3 as Heat Awareness Day to help residents prepare for rising summer temperatures in Wisconsin. Emergency management officials urge families to stay hydrated & seek cool spaces to avoid heat-related risks. KFIZ
- ➤ Kimberly Van Sistine recovered from severe ankle surgery after a water skiing accident a year ago and returned to the lake over Memorial Day weekend using a ski with a quick release boot, crediting her positive attitude and consistent physical therapy. Envision Greater FDL
