COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Monthlies Project reached a major milestone by distributing 1 million period products across Northeast Wisconsin as of last week — the nonprofit partners with 165 local organizations to help students stay in school. In the week of May 19, the group delivered 2,000 summer kits to 48 schools and organizations serving school-aged menstruators.  WBAY
  • Dan Shea, a master electrician and owner of Shea Electric & Communications LLC, was named the 2025 Donald G. Jones Leadership Alumni Award recipient by Leadership Fond du Lac County—he received the honor during the Completion Ceremony on May 21 at South Hills Golf & Country Club.  Envision Greater FDL

CRIME NEWS

  • Omah Brown, accused of shooting a man in Omro last year and leading a police pursuit in a Uhaul truck through Winnebago and Fond du Lac Counties, has his trial pushed back after he failed to secure counsel at a May 27 status hearing—he also faces additional felonies in Sheboygan and Washington Counties.  KFIZ
  • A Fond du Lac man, Hunter Kamrath, 40, pleaded not guilty on Thursday after being charged with nine felonies, including attempted first degree intentional homicide and first degree reckless injury in connection with an alleged attack on his landlord on March 11 — his next court appearance is set for July 10.  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Miss Wisconsin Competition will be held in New Berlin at the New Berlin West Performing Arts Center from June 18 to 21 as 29 women contend for the title while 24 others vie for Miss Wisconsin’s Teen on June 20—public events include meet-and-greets with current titleholders and online ticket sales.  KFIZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fond du Lac's Morning Rotary provided 337 bilingual and foreign language books to school libraries on May 29 to help teachers support ESL students — continuing the club's long history of promoting youth literacy. The donation was funded by the Rotary district grant and builds on other literacy programs in the district.  KFIZ
  • Marian University held its annual Student Recognition Awards to honor student excellence on campus and in the community, naming Sydney Schipper as Student of the Year (a senior from Stoughton) and highlighting achievements in academics, leadership, and service. The events also recognized accomplishments in the Business and Nursing Programs and celebrated clubs and service projects with community impact (including initiatives like the Mock Crime Scene event and Campus Ministry drives).  Envision Greater FDL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office announced a fundraiser brat and burger fry scheduled for tomorrow at Festival Foods burger barn from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—proceeds will benefit scholarships and local organizations through the Sheriff’s Benevolent Association.  KFIZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sharon Michels, RN from SSM Health at Work, was honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at the Fond du Lac Regional Clinic on May 29th for her compassionate care and prompt response to patient concerns — colleagues highlighted her extra efforts in assisting patients beyond her basic duties.  KFIZ
