- ➤ Holy Family Catholic Community will offer free lunches every Tuesday this summer with its Summer Bites program to help children and families who rely on school meals. Volunteers will pack up to 400 lunches at 10 locations from June 10 to August 19—each meal including a sandwich, drink, fruit and snack. KFIZ
- ➤ Dan Shea, a local master electrician and owner of Shea Electric Communications LLC, was named the 2025 Donald G. Jones Leadership Alumni Award recipient by Leadership Fond du Lac County. He was honored at the ceremony on May 21 at South Hills Golf — a recognition of his commitment to community service and business innovation. KFIZ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ At about 6:37 p.m. Friday, a car sped over 80 mph in a 25 mph zone in downtown Fond du Lac, hit eight vehicles causing two to catch fire, and the 19-year-old driver from Green Bay—who was already out on bond—surrendered to deputies, was taken by ambulance to a hospital and now faces multiple charges. - ➤ On May 30th, 2025, a Fond du Lac deputy observed a vehicle speeding in a 25 mph zone on S. Main St and started a pursuit that ended when the 19-year-old female suspect from Green Bay struck eight vehicles and started a fire before surrendering, leaving three injured and facing multiple charges — including operating while intoxicated causing injury and felony bail jumping. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ After last week's rise, gas prices dropped across Eastern Wisconsin, and in Fond du Lac County the average price of regular unleaded fuel fell 13 cents to $2.87+ a 44-cent decrease from a year ago. KFIZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ SSM Health donated $10,000 to Fond du Lac Literacy Services to expand free tutoring that helps about 200 local adults with reading, math, and English skills + the funds will be used for tutor training, assessments, and new community programs like citizenship and digital literacy classes. The donation was presented by local SSM Health leaders to the literacy services team to support ongoing adult education in the community. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University held year-end awards ceremonies on May 30 to honor student excellence in academics, leadership, service, and professional development — with the Office of Student Life and separate events by the Business and Nursing programs celebrating outstanding achievements — including recognitions for students such as Sydney Schipper and Maria Miller. - ➤ The National Weather Service issued an air quality alert on May 30 after north winds carried Canadian wildfire smoke into Fond du Lac. The advisory, which warned that children, seniors, pregnant women, and those with asthma were at risk (and suggested shorter outdoor activities), lasted until 6 a.m. today. KFIZ
