COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital donated $10,000 to the Boys + Girls Club of the Tri-County Area to help youth programs reach their full potential and break the cycle of poverty. Hospital leaders presented the donation as club programs saw increased after-school and summer participation in 2024. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Walleye Weekend will take place at Lakeside Park from June 6-8 with a slight chance of rain on Friday and Saturday and a 70% chance on Sunday afternoon; local weather reports show that air quality is expected to improve before the event & a slight risk of thunderstorms remains into early next week. - ➤ The Lakeside Park carousel will not run this summer—construction of a new building that will shelter the ride from weather damage is set to begin later this summer and continue into the fall so that it returns in 2026. The change will also end the need to dismantle the ride each winter. KFIZ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced that Kaitlynn G. Ray was charged with 25 counts after she drove 80 mph in a 25 mph zone downtown on May 30 at 6:37 p.m., causing injuries, vehicle fires and posing a public safety risk (a preliminary hearing is set for July 18 at 9:00). CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Thelma Center for the Arts announced that One Night of Queen, a Queen tribute band from Glasgow, will perform Saturday, August 8 outside the venue at the corner of Sheboygan and Marr and the event will charge a ten dollars admission fee plus a VIP option. The center also plans a concert with former lead singers from Boston and Chicago on Saturday, June 14. KFIZ

- ➤ The Municipal Service Center is teaming with RecycleThatStuff.com to host an electronics recycling event from Monday, June 16 to Saturday, June 21 at the Bulky Waste Drop-Off Site on 530 Doty Street during regular hours—only Fond du Lac residents may participate. Items dropped off must be paid for in cash while many small electronics are recycled free. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ Over Memorial Day weekend, Fond du Lac School District nurse Jill Irving used her CPR training to help a lifeguard at a Wisconsin Dells resort when a child became unresponsive after a pool rescue — her quick actions ensured 911 was called and emergency care was on the way. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ The Dock Spiders beat the Rafters 9-7 on a rainy Tuesday night with strong pitching by local Ethan Cole—who threw six innings with seven strikeouts—and key hits from first baseman Matt Hansen and Tommy Googins. - ➤ The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders will welcome back former player Caleb Durbin during today's home game, where he will meet fans and throw out the ceremonial first pitch at 6:35 p.m. Durbin, who made his Major League debut with the Milwaukee Brewers on April 18, will also host a meet-and-greet (5:30 to 6:15 p.m.).
