- ➤ Local State Farm Insurance agent Sam Meyer is hosting an open house today to show his refurbished 1860s building on Main Street after moving it from 42 North Main. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. + food, drinks, and mariachi music from 12 to 2. KFIZ
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured in a June 6 bicycle crash at the intersection of East Pioneer Road and Martin Avenue in Fond du Lac when his bike collided with a delivery van, and he underwent a six-hour surgery for severe left leg trauma after being airlifted to a Milwaukee trauma center—a family friend set up a GoFundMe page that is more than halfway to a $5,500 goal for his medical, travel and rehabilitation expenses as Fond du Lac police investigate the crash. - ➤ SSM Health Treffert Center will host Archipelago 2025: A Celebration of Exceptional Minds on July 11 from 5—9 p.m. at Fond du Lac County Campus. The event will feature live performances, art showcases— and networking opportunities for savants to share their talents. KFIZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On June 5, Riverside Elementary School was named a 2023-24 Wisconsin School of Recognition by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for its strong focus on student growth and academic achievement. The High Impact award is given to Title I schools that meet strict criteria, and both the principal and the Fond du Lac School Superintendent praised the school’s hard work & community support. KFIZ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Several Northeast Wisconsin beaches are closed because the DNR found high levels of E. coli bacteria. Fischer Park, Red Arrow Park, Long Lake North, and Baileys Harbor Ridges Park beaches have been closed since June 10 and will remain shut until levels improve. WBAY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Department of Public Works and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation have contracted with Lunda Construction of Black River Falls to replace the Promen Drive Bridge in Lakeside Park. The bridge will close to all traffic starting Monday, June 16 (and remain closed until fall) while boaters must use other launches as access under the bridge and at Harborview is restricted. KFIZ
- ➤ The Fond du Lac Department of Public Works said the Promen Drive bridge will close starting June 16 until fall for replacement by Lunda Construction—drivers must take detours and boaters should use alternative launches like Mohawk Avenue or Lakeside Park West—while Lakeside Park attractions remain open. - ➤ The Department of Public Works announced that Main Street between First Street and Merrill Avenue in downtown will close tomorrow for asphalt milling and repaving until the end of next Friday—business access may be disrupted as side street parking and city lots remain available. Local businesses will maintain access throughout the project. KFIZ

- ➤ On June 10, the Dock Spiders won 14-4 over the Woodchucks as starting pitcher Ethan Cole recorded seven strikeouts in seven innings—while left fielder William Hoerner went 4-for-5 with two doubles to earn his first player of the game nod.
