EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Moraine Park Technical College is offering a Welding Boot Camp — running September 2 to December 11 with classes Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., free tuition, and a paid internship, while the application period runs from June 17 to July 28 with internship interviews on August 12 and 13. Information sessions and a Test Drive a Career in Welding event on July 8 provide further guidance on next steps. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Forty-one student-athletes from Marian University's men’s and women’s ice hockey teams were named All-Academic by the NCHA for earning a 3.30 grade point average or higher — The honor marks the first time freshmen were eligible and includes several players who received the award for a third time. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Norma Smit has volunteered with SSM Health at Home Hospice for seven years and returned as the Monday bingo caller at the Markesan Barrett House in January 2022 after a pause during COVID-19. She uses a back scratcher to call bingo—bringing fun and comfort to residents while encouraging others to volunteer. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ SSM Health donated $20,000 to the Fond du Lac County Health Department Save a Smile Dental Program to help children and adults with low incomes get dental services—allowing families to receive care close to home. The program aids those on Medical Assistance with both preventive and urgent needs—supporting local access to essential dental care. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ SSM Health donated $15,000 to Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac to help reduce youth substance use, and the coalition works with schools and law enforcement to promote healthy, substance-free lifestyles. This support follows a 2024 community benefit ministry of over $568,000 used to address health care access and addiction prevention. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ The Dock Spiders beat the Rafters 9-7 at Witter Field as Landon Mensik and Jalen Gellings each went 4-for-5 while Zack White struck out four and Hudson Johnson earned the win; they will face the Rafters again tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. at Herr-Baker Field in a Scout Day game. Envision Greater FDL
