COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Some residents in North Fond du Lac experienced a large power outage on Thursday morning, June 26, after several transformers blew on Winnebago Street (between Pioneer Road and Prospect Avenue), which disrupted traffic lights and the power at the Stretch restaurant. Local crews and the fire department responded quickly and restored power just before 7 a.m.  KFIZ
  • Justine Eatherton has been named Big of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County after mentoring Jasmine for nearly seven years; the award will be presented at Hotel Retlaw on July 10—her steady support has helped Jasmine gain confidence as she prepares for high school.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Fond du Lac held its first downtown night market on June 26 — a free event with live music by J Ryan Trio and outdoor games — where families enjoyed fresh produce, prepared foods, and local art. The market will return every other Thursday on Main Street between Division and Forest Avenue until August 21 — offering a recurring opportunity for community fun.  KFIZ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fatal crash occurred on Highway 49 at Dairy Road in northern Dodge County on June 26 at 6:30 a.m. amid heavy fog when a semi tanker and passenger vehicle collided, killing at least one person and prompting a response from emergency crews—authorities are still investigating.  KFIZ

CRIME NEWS

  • A Ripon man was accused of attacking a woman with a hatchet and sexually assaulting her in her Fond du Lac home on June 22nd, leaving her with severe injuries that required hours of surgery, and after a six-mile high-speed chase ended with spike strips and two PIT maneuvers, his bond was set at $5 million.  FOX6
  • A 32-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested in Fond du Lac County Jail after a 14-minute low-speed chase on Wednesday night when officers spotted his car driving with no headlights or taillights and going the wrong way on S. Macy St—using stop sticks and a PIT maneuver to bring him to a halt—and he now faces charges for a first-time OWI and felony fleeing and eluding and resisting an officer.  WBAY

  • A new report shows Wisconsin manufacturing remains strong and supports nearly half a million jobs. In 2024, manufacturers added $73.7b to the state GDP and exported $24b in goods—trade with Canada, Mexico, and China and rising foreign-owned jobs highlight the sector's continued growth.  Envision Greater FDL

  • The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders lost a nail-biting 9-8 game to the Pit Spitters today at Turtle Creek Stadium when a walk-off RBI single by Aaron Piasecki ended the contest—after Jarren Sanderson hit his first grand slam this season.
