On July 4th at 11:04 p.m., a fire in the attached garage of a home on N6041 Stillwater Drive started from improperly discarded fireworks — local fire crews and mutual aid quickly contained the flames while all occupants and pets safely evacuated.

A West Bend man, 20-year-old Jatziel Encarnacion, was sentenced to three years’ probation and 120 days in jail for his role in a New Year’s Eve crash on Highway 45 in Auburn that injured four others and killed 19-year-old Taya Grimes (he is not charged in her death) based on witness accounts.
