  • The downtown Fond du Lac Night Market was held this week after it was rescheduled following a cancellation two weeks ago because of rain. The event ran from 5-8 p.m. at Main Street Plaza—featuring live music by Jeremiah Jams Band, along with food, drinks, a kid’s zone, home grown produce, and arts or crafts.  KFIZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Brothertown Indian Nation will celebrate Samson Occom Day on July 14 with an online event at 7 p.m. — Mohegan historian Jason LaVigne and archivist David Freeburg will discuss how Occom united tribes to form the community.  FDL Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On July 10th, Rep. Jerry O’Connor from Fond du Lac said he applauded UW-Madison Chancellor Mnookin’s decision to end the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Educational Achievement—he warned that DEI work could shift to other departments and vowed to watch the changes closely.  KFIZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Former Olympic wrestler and MMA star Ben Askren underwent a double lung transplant on Wednesday in Wisconsin after suffering a severe pneumonia. He said his month-long hospital stay left him with little memory of the events and that he lost about 50 pounds — details he shared on social media.  WBAY
  • SSM Health Cancer Care in Fond du Lac now uses AlignRT— a new Surface Guided Radiation Therapy system that uses 3D cameras and infrared to guide treatment without tattoos. The system monitors patients in real time and pauses treatment if they move— ensuring radiation is delivered accurately.  Envision Greater FDL

  • The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders swept the Rafters in a doubleheader at Witter Field with wins of 6-3 and 15-9—pitchers Stormy Rhodes and Zak White helped keep the Rafters at bay while Taylor Freeman stood out in game two. The team plays a home game today at 6:35 p.m. against the Lakeshore Chinooks with Margaritaville Night events including a can cover giveaway and post-game fireworks by Fond du Lac Credit Union.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian University Athletics has promoted Kim Sorensen to assistant athletic director today after she served the Sabres for over 20 years starting as the first full-time athletic trainer in 2000. The Neenah native has led roles in sports medicine and on local, conference and national committees — and she will now take on a greater leadership role to support student-athletes.  Envision Greater FDL
