- ➤ The 174th Fond du Lac County Fair kicked off yesterday with a bull riding and horse barrel racing event that started at 6:30 p.m. at the grandstands, featuring riders from the Rice Bull Riding Company, a rodeo clown's banter, and a fireworks display after tickets cost $17 for adults + $6 for kids. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Daunte Riley, a 19-year-old from Fond du Lac, is accused of fatally stabbing 27-year-old Walter Brooks during a reported fight at Menominee Park in Oshkosh on July 5; he appeared at a preliminary hearing yesterday when a cash bond of $1 million was set and will appear again next Monday and Thursday. - ➤ Three area high school seniors received $1,500 scholarships from SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary for health care studies—while a fourth student earned a $500 award from the Arlene Fenner Family Endowed Scholarship honoring a dedicated volunteer. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office will launch a new text alert service at the county fair to send emergency updates for weather changes or to help locate lost children. Fair goers can sign up by texting FONDYFAIR25 to 78015+ and the service will automatically expire on Monday, July 21. KFIZ
- ➤ Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney was named District Attorney of the Year 2024 and nominated by the police chief for his work on homicide cases and community outreach—he also helped secure higher pay and four new ADA positions for his office. The new hires will be recruited from law school graduates to relieve heavy caseloads and improve trial preparations—bolstering support for local prosecutors. FDL Reporter
- ➤ The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office announced that it will debut a new mobile command and communications center built by LDV Inc. at the county fair today. The updated center will replace a 36-year-old vehicle and coordinate law enforcement, fire, and EMS responses — from SWAT situations and water rescues to missing persons searches and natural disasters — in our county. - ➤ SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic announced that it welcomes Heather Krenn, APNP, as its new cardiology nurse practitioner at 420 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac.
