- ➤ Holy Family Warming Shelter in Fond du Lac received a boost from the Rose M. Buckarma Foundation to help pay for its cold season services. The donation creates an endowment fund that will cover part of the shelter’s annual cost of more than $220,000—helping to keep a safe, warm place open for up to 36 single adults each night from Nov. 1 to April 30. - ➤ Fond du Lac County Airport played a key role during AirVenture by coordinating emergency landings, offering a shuttle for pilots avoiding congested flights at Wittman's busy airport, and managing a temporary tower. Airport Manager Bryan Linger said heavy rain on July 23 led to one runway closure—helping the airport park larger planes on pavement to stay safe. KFIZ

- ➤ On Tuesday, just before 12:30 p.m., an 81-year-old woman named Mary Naggatz was pronounced dead at the scene after her car left its lane on Highway 151 near Thill Road in Town of Oakfield when she may have suffered a medical emergency, and a 58-year-old man from Waupun was hospitalized with serious injuries—officials continue to investigate the incident. - ➤ Early Wednesday morning, July 23, a semi-truck went into a ditch near US Highway 151 northbound in Fond du Lac—after the driver failed to slow for a turn and causing bales of paper to hit the cab—and the seriously injured 60-year-old from New Holstein was taken by helicopter to a regional hospital while officials investigate the crash. - ➤ Marian University is offering a new 1-credit post-baccalaureate course online that meets the Act 20 reading requirement for educators — the course lasts 7 weeks and costs $600. KFIZ

- ➤ Flags will fly half-staff today from sunrise until sunset to honor Van Dyne firefighter Amie Sue Lee (61), who died July 14 from complications after a duty-related knee injury; services are scheduled for later today. FDL Reporter
- ➤ Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt took a 20-minute ride in a vintage Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless dive bomber yesterday at the Fond du Lac County Airport to trace his grandfather Corporal Thomas W. Ford's WWII history—he was offered the ride by the Commemorative Air Force. Others can schedule similar flights during AirVenture week by contacting the group. KFIZ

- ➤ Fond du Lac Dock Spiders won 17-13 over Wisconsin Rapids at Herr-Baker Field as James Hankerson Jr. made key hits and helped the team record a season-high 17 runs. - ➤ Marian University men’s hockey had 10 student-athletes named as Krampade All-American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association—each earned the honor by keeping at least a 3.75 GPA per semester and playing in 40% of the team’s games with exceptions for injured players and backup goaltenders.
