- ➤ The Rose M. Buckarma Foundation donated funds to Holy Family Catholic Community to support the Holy Family Warming Shelter, which provided safe lodging and meals for more than 100 guests last season and costs over $220,000 a year to operate + the donation established a Human Concerns Endowment Fund to keep the shelter running. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday evening, a three-car crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 151 and Golf Course Drive in Taycheedah injured three people as a northbound delivery van hit an SUV making a left turn and forced it into oncoming traffic—one victim suffered serious injuries while two others had minor injuries. - ➤ Fond du Lac Community Theatre will present Shrek the Musical, Jr. at the Goodrich Little Theater from July 31 through August 3 — the family-friendly show features young performers with performances at 7 p.m. each night and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ The Fond du Lac Audubon Society announced three August events including a guided walk on Gottfried Prairie & Arboretum trails at 6:30 p.m. on August 5th meeting at the east parking lot of 400 University Drive, a trail and boardwalk walk by the dog park at Lakeside Park West at 6:30 p.m. on August 12th, and a Chimney Swift Roosting Watch starting at 7:45 p.m. on August 19th with a social gathering at Fat Joe’s on 15 W. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced that I—41 northbound and several ramps in Fond du Lac and Winnebago counties will close overnight starting July 28 for resurfacing and culvert work. The closures include nighttime shutdowns from County N to State 26 on July 28, 29, and 30 as well as a two-week closure of the County Z overpass—drivers should plan alternate routes and extra travel time. - ➤ Yesterday, Governor Tony Evers announced in a video on X that he will not run for a third term as governor of Wisconsin. He won his elections in 2018 and 2022 and his decision opens the door for several candidates to compete in the 2026 race. TMJ-4
- ➤ The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is hosting an online public meeting on July 30 at 6:30 p.m. to review proposed improvements including a single-lane roundabout at the dangerous State Highway 26 and County TC intersection in the community of Ladoga in Fond du Lac County — the meeting comes after a history of 10 injury crashes, two of which were fatal, and ahead of construction planned to begin in spring 2029 with a full highway closure and detour. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Carl Schulze of Neenah began a nearly 100-mile wheelchair journey on July 13 to reach Madison and ask lawmakers to raise home health aide pay to $20 per hour from about $16, since he relies on aides to live independently. He rides at six miles per hour and can go about 12 miles before his battery dies — his journey continues with planned stops until he reaches Madison by the end of the month. FDL Reporter

- ➤ The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders lost a 2—1 game to the Rafters at Herr-Baker Field as the offense managed only six hits and the Rafters took the lead with an eighth inning bases-loaded walk.
