COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Losey family of seven in Ledgeview lost their home to a fire on Wednesday night—reducing it to rubble and charred frames. Neighbors rallied quickly as a GoFundMe raised over $40K in less than a day to help the family move forward.  WBAY
  • Retired research librarian Mary Leb will speak at the Byron Historical Society meeting on Monday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Byron Town Hall (N3097 Highway 175 in Byron) where she will share her nearly 24-year career in genealogical research during this free event open to the public.  KFIZ
  • Fond du Lac’s 18th annual Fondue Fest will take place on Saturday, September 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.—it will feature live music, local food, artisan vendors, cheese and chocolate fondue served at 10:00 a.m., a limited-edition Caramel Coffee Stout tapped at noon by Lakefront Brewery, bike races for kids 10 and under starting at noon, and the Fondue Feast Eating Contest.  KFIZ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fire officials are investigating a house fire at N7402 Lakeshore Drive near North Fond du Lac that started just after 9:30 last night—moderate first-floor damage was caused and a pet cat died while the lone occupant escaped safely.  KFIZ

CRIME NEWS

  • On August 10 at 11:34 p.m., deputies responded near Eden to a reported armed robbery when a masked man allegedly demanded money from a driver, and a detective later found the claim to be false—on August 14 the reporting party was arrested for Misuse of 911 and Obstructing.  KFIZ
  • Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office arrested and booked a woman on Thursday at the county jail for falsely reporting an armed robbery in the Village of Eden—an investigation later showed she had made up the incident.  WBAY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Snapshot Wisconsin trail cameras have captured over 100 million photos of wildlife in the past 10 years—more than 2,000 cameras in every county are managed by volunteers who help scientists track animal changes and set hunting rules.  WBAY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Chloe Krumbein, an SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic Pediatrics Patient Access Representative II, was named the newest recipient of the BEE Award on August 14—she was recognized by a patient for her exceptional service and kind care of patients. The award honors her teamwork, strong communication skills, and dedication to excellence in the Pediatrics department.  KFIZ
