- ➤ During the 2025 season the Dock Spiders stole 70 bases at home which led Silica For Your Home to donate $3,500 to the Boys & Girls Club—marking the third year of this donation program and a successful Tim Elko bobblehead giveaway. KFIZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State legislators from both parties met Tuesday night to push for closing Green Bay Correctional Institution after Governor Tony Evers removed the 2029 deadline. They plan to introduce a standalone bill with yearly milestones— the Village of Allouez still awaits a definitive timeline as neighbors hope for faster inmate transfers to other facilities. WBAY
- ➤ The City of Fond du Lac announced on August 19 that it hired Five Star Energy to replace lead service lines on select blocks (E Arndt St, N Park Ave, E Bank St, Amory St and E Cotton St) to help ensure cleaner drinking water. Impacted households received a notice, and the city will announce more replacements before August 25. KFIZ
- ➤ The Fond du Lac Public Library is seeking a new director and is accepting applications from candidates with a master’s degree and library management experience plus the search committee met on Aug. 11 and will meet again on Aug. 25 while the full board reviews the process on Aug. 21. The interim director will take over on Aug. 25 after current director Jon Mark Bolthouse departs on Aug. 24 and first interviews are set for Sept. 9. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ The Johnson Street bridge was restricted to one lane each way for maintenance starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, August 19 — crews will finish repairs by the end of day Friday. KFIZ
- ➤ Today, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles received an application from the Iola Old Car Show for a new specialty license plate that will add a $25 donation fee to support non-profit groups. The public may review the application and submit comments until September 18 — the legislative Transportation Committee will decide on the plate. WBAY
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ SSM Health donated $10,000 to New Beginnings Pregnancy Care Center to cover expenses for housing pregnant and parenting women and their babies — the funds will also boost access to prenatal and postnatal care and support services for families in need. KFIZ
