  • Envision Greater Fond du Lac hosted a ribbon cutting at Accent Wealth Management on August 22 to celebrate a strong relationship with the Fond du Lac community. CRIME NEWS

  • 45-year-old Ryan Borgwardt faked his death in a Green Lake kayak accident last year before fleeing overseas—he will return to Green Lake County court on Tuesday the 26th to plead on a misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer.  KFIZ
  • On August 21st, Judge Laura Lavey sentenced Elia Antonio to 34 years of initial confinement plus 20 years of extended supervision for human trafficking, failing to protect her child and bail jumping—Juan Rocha Mejia received 40 years of initial confinement plus 20 years of extended supervision for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old linked to a trafficking incident on May 12th.  KFIZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Apartment listing prices in Fond du Lac dropped 4% from last year's median of $1,078 as listings reached $1,035 in July—up from $999 last month, according to Zumper data.  FDL Reporter

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Marian University will host a 9-part series on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition with Sister Dianne Bergant, Ph.D., teaching at Stayer Auditorium starting Tuesday, August 26 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.—the public may attend in person or watch on the CSA YouTube channel.  Envision Greater FDL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 2 on Highway 49 from Brandon’s west village limits to just south of Griswold Street in Ripon for a $2.1 million project that will mill and resurface the roadway, widen paved shoulders, and install new markings—curb ramps and curb and gutter replacements are also included. The road will remain open during daytime flagging operations and individual lane closures and is expected to be done in about 30 days around mid November.  KFIZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dan George, an SSM Health Pharmacy Division Street clinical pharmacist, was named the recipient of the BEE Award—recognizing his excellent teamwork and bedside medication delivery support with translation—after his colleague nominated him for his extra effort in improving patient care.  Envision Greater FDL

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In Fond du Lac County, median home listing prices held at $374,900 in July; the price is 6.2% lower than last July's $407,200 value. About 100 new listings appeared and homes stayed on the market for a median of 49 days (compared to the national 58 days), showing brisk market activity.  FDL Reporter
