A consumer reported to DATCP that a scammer impersonating their online course instructor tricked them into investing almost $40,000 in fraudulent crypto—resulting in a loss of nearly $139,000 through a 'pig butchering' scam.

Tracy Freiberg, a 60-year-old Fond du Lac resident, had a routine checkup that found a heart murmur and led to tests showing she had severe aortic stenosis from a congenital bicuspid valve.
