- ➤ SSM Health Mission Action Team in Fond du Lac will host its annual fall mum sale on September 16 and 17 from 9 am—3 pm outside the main Regional Clinic at 420 E. Division Street, with the sale moving inside if rain occurs. The sale features various quality mums and accepts cash, checks, or payroll deduction, and all proceeds will benefit the Employee Relief Fund. KFIZ

- ➤ Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce and Johnson Financial Group are hosting the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest to celebrate 10 years of manufacturing innovation. Nominations begin Aug. 25 through Sept. 12—voters will choose the Top 16 and the winner will be announced on Oct. 23 at the Business Day event in Madison. KFIZ

- ➤ Fond du Lac Streetwise asked local readers to share their first day-of-school photos that spanned from 1950 (Germany) to 1998 (Pier Elementary) as they recalled the excitement and nerves of starting school. Several residents shared memories that connect past experiences with the community's long history of education. FDL Reporter
- ➤ Fond du Lac County residents can join the free Planning AHEAD course hosted by Ripon Public Library and led by Fond du Lac Extension, which guides people through end-of-life planning in six 1.5-hour sessions. The classes run every Friday from September 5 to October 10 at 10:00 a.m.—11:30 a.m. and registration closes on August 29. KFIZ
- ➤ For a second year, Wisconsin students from lower-income families can apply online for state grants to cover the cost of driver's education classes—providing 30 hours of classroom lessons, six hours of observation and six hours of behind-the-wheel training. The program, for students aged 14½ to 19 who qualify for free or reduced-price lunches and have never held a license, will release $1.5 million every three months from an ongoing $6 million state fund. - ➤ SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital has been recognized nationally for its high-quality heart failure care by earning the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines Award for a seventh year—this award shows the hospital’s strong commitment to lowering readmissions and improving patient outcomes. - ➤ Fond du Lac County Health Department, The Gratitude Club and Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac will host the 3rd Annual Stigma Awareness Event on Saturday, September 13th at 295 Ruggles St. from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. to help the community learn that addiction is a treatable medical condition and gain access to resource tables, food trucks and a speaker panel including recovery advocate Vin Baker. - ➤ The Dock Spiders and Marian University Sabres will install AstroTurf at Herr-Baker Field by spring to allow games to start shortly after rain and reduce injury risk; upgrades for the softball field and Lenz Field House will follow later in 2026, and their extended partnership runs through 2050 — boosting local sports tourism.
