COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fond du Lac Family YMCA and Boys & Girls Club have launched a joint capital campaign—Our Future Together, Reimagined—to expand and renovate their shared community center with improved security, an indoor walking track, and a dedicated cafeteria for youth programs. The campaign has already raised over $5 million from major donors and now seeks an extra $500,000 from community supporters to complete the project.  KFIZ
  • A Michigan man—John DeMay—will share his tragic story about his 17-year-old son who died from online sextortion at a presentation scheduled for September 24th at Fond du Lac High School from 6-8 p.m. The Fond du Lac Police Department will join a discussion panel on local sextortion trends and prevention strategies—parental discretion is advised.  KFIZ
  • Fond du Lac residents will drop off household hazardous waste on September 11 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 530 Doty St.—they must bring photo ID and place all items in their vehicles as staff verify residency without exiting.  FDL Reporter

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The driver of a construction dump truck sustained minor injuries on Wednesday, September 3rd when the vehicle, hauling cement pieces and rebar, left the roadway near Brown Road—just east of Townline Road—and rolled into a field; responders including town fire, ambulance, sheriff deputies and state patrol troopers arrived and Whealon Towing later removed the wreckage.  KFIZ

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sept. 3, a deputy from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office made a traffic stop in a Walmart parking lot that turned into a police chase when the driver fled—deputies later found the suspect vehicle abandoned behind a grocery store, recovered 2.3 pounds of marijuana from a discarded backpack, and took a 28-year-old passenger into custody.  FOX6

CULTURE NEWS

  • The EAA Aviation Museum announced a full lineup of events for fall and winter that will include a Speaker Series with talks on Sept. 11, Oct. 16, and Nov. 20, a Space Day on Oct. 25 with flights and hands-on activities, and a Christmas in the Air open house on Dec. 6 with Santa arriving by helicopter (tickets cost $5 for nonmembers). The museum will also host the Wright Brothers Memorial Banquet on Dec. 12 with a dinner and keynote presentation.  FDL Reporter

HEALTH NEWS

  • SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital earned national praise for its stroke care after receiving the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines—Gold Plus award and a Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll designation. The awards show the hospital’s commitment to saving lives and shortening recovery times for stroke patients in the greater Fond du Lac area.  Envision Greater FDL
  • SSM Health has donated $10,000 to the Children’s Museum to support year-round programs focused on children’s health and wellness—programs like Garden Club, Super Saturday, and Screen Free Week. The donation continues a partnership that began in 2006 and will help local kids learn healthy habits through play.  Envision Greater FDL
