CULTURE NEWS

  • The Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes will hold a one-day pilgrimage on October 4 in and around Fond du Lac to collect and spread seeds of hope and healing. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at their motherhouse and concludes at 5 p.m.—participants will ride buses to local sites with the schedule subject to change if the weather becomes severe.  Envision Greater FDL

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Fond du Lac County is set for economic growth as industrial parks quickly fill and new housing will be developed in Campbellsport, Ripon, Waupun, and North Fond du Lac—efforts that promise to improve access to the local workforce.  Envision Greater FDL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wisconsin DNR improved its air quality map on September 10 to show real-time pollution levels with clear color codes. The update adds an advisory banner and an 'Orange or Above' filter—helping residents quickly see when pollution levels may affect health.  KFIZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wisconsin DMV warned consumers and dealers on September 10 to inspect used vehicles for flood damage after widespread flooding in southern counties this summer. They advised checking for water stains, musty odors, and malfunctioning electrical components — key signs of water damage.  KFIZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • ThedaCare strengthened its workplace violence prevention program last October by training clinical and security staff in de-escalation techniques and forming a Behavioral Emergency Response Team—experts now better equipped to manage patient agitation and protect caregivers. Director Jamin Homan said the system has shown positive outcomes and plans will roll out additional training at other sites.  Envision Greater FDL
  • SSM Health welcomes sleep doctor Ryan Butcher, who joined the Sleep Services team at St. Agnes Hospital—430 E. Division Street and is now accepting patients. He will treat problems like sleep apnea and insomnia using a patient-centered approach.  Envision Greater FDL
  • At Ripon Community Hospital, three women who started as CNAs have become RNs with a mentoring program. Their journey shows the hospital is growing its own talent to improve patient care.  Envision Greater FDL
  • SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital now features REACH Waupun artwork in its new lobby gallery funded by Agnesian HealthCare Foundation and displaying pieces from local schools and non-profits rotated monthly. The hospital will host a free open house—5—6 pm Wednesday, September 17—to let the public meet the artists and experience art that supports healing.  Envision Greater FDL
  • The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Fond du Lac County residents to join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 4th at Fond du Lac High School—participants will help raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s research.  FDL Reporter
