COMMUNITY NEWS

  • During the summer and fall, Fond du Lac community groups have carried out many projects including finishing the Main Street Rehabilitation Project on Aug. 28 and holding a DAR rededication ceremony on Sept. 11 while the Family YMCA and Boys & Girls Club launch a $5 million capital campaign to expand their shared center. Local cultural and recreational events — such as art exhibits at SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital, renovation updates at Ripon Library beginning Sept. 15, and a pancake event at Ripon High School on Sept. 20 — will continue to offer community engagement in the coming days.  FDL Reporter

EDUCATION NEWS

  • An employee from the Rosendale-Brandon School District in Fond du Lac County was placed on administrative leave due to a social media post — the district did not name the employee or reveal the post contents and said it is reviewing the matter.  WBAY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On September 1, Wisconsin enforced new vape restrictions that limit smoke shops to carrying roughly 280 state-approved products—stores have removed many items from their shelves since the law took effect. The vaping industry sued the state and a federal judge ruled the law could remain while the case is appealed—legal challenges continue.  FDL Reporter
  • Yesterday, Gov. Tony Evers ordered state flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on September 11—honoring those killed in the 9/11 attacks—and declared a state Day of Service and Remembrance.  FDL Reporter
  • The Fond du Lac Department of Public Works announced that East 9th Street between Marr and Sherman will be closed for one week for water utility repairs and pavement restoration starting Monday, September 15 at 7:00 a.m.—with reopening by the end of Friday, September 19.  KFIZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Marian women's soccer lost 2 to 1 to Lawrence when Ava Elders scored twice and Brianna Guelig tied the game with help from Maya Gray. The defeat ended Marian's longest unbeaten start—marking their first loss of the season.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian men's soccer lost to Carroll 3-1 today after Carroll opened with a goal by Sharipov and added another from Solanelles, while Marian's Brayden Johnson scored their only goal. Sophomore Connor Farrell made six key saves, but Carroll dominated the match with more shots and extended Marian's series losing streak to six games.  Envision Greater FDL
