  • Marian University will host its 44th Annual Business and Industry Awards on October 22 at the Stayer Center with a reception at 5:00 p.m. and dinner at 6:00 p.m. The awards program starts at 7:00 p.m.—all proceeds will support student scholarships—and local business and community leaders will honor groups driving economic growth.  KFIZ

CRIME NEWS

  • A consumer reported to DATCP that they encountered a threatening computer pop-up urging them to download a program for remote access and wire $14,500 for a fake tech support sting—fortunately, they contacted their real bank and avoided losing money.  KFIZ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The archery and crossbow deer hunting season began Saturday for Wisconsin hunters—recovered deer must be registered by 5:00 p.m. the following day and the season runs until January 4.  KFIZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Amtrak I-41 Thruway Bus Service between Green Bay and Milwaukee will end on Oct. 1 because the legislature did not provide new funds after Gov. Tony Evers requested over $15 million to support rail operations; the service, which stops in Fond du Lac and connects with the Hiawatha train in Milwaukee, faces rising costs that leave riders with other bus options—a shift that may affect local travel plans.  KFIZ
