COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Friends of Lakeside Park are hosting a food truck festival tomorrow, September 21, with 38 food trucks and local artists displaying paintings, ceramics and jewelry in Lakeside Park. The free event runs from 11 a.m.—5 p.m. and will also feature stilt walkers, bounce houses, a pet rescue, and a 50/50 raffle.  KFIZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A survey showed that 81% of UWO grads found jobs in the Fox Valley before finishing college, with ThedaCare recruiting 48 graduates as the top employer. The report was released on August 11 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah—proving that more Titans used career services—helping local employers access fresh talent.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian University will inaugurate its 18th president Aaron Sadoff on September 25 — the event starts with an Inauguration Mass at Dorcas Chapel at 11:00 a.m., continues with a ceremony at the Sadoff Gymnasium, and ends with a reception on The Quad featuring The Kingfish Band while being open to the public.  KFIZ
  • Marian University will host a Hall of Fame Dinner — part of Homecoming Week — on September 27 to honor four leaders for their service, leadership and lifelong learning. The event starts with a 5:00 p.m. reception at the Stayer Center and tickets cost $50 per person.  Envision Greater FDL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Green Lake Association confirmed that toxic blue-green algae have spread widely over Green Lake and officials advised residents not to boat, swim or fish in areas with visible scum — as the toxins can cause skin rashes and liver damage. Samples were first taken on September 16 and testing continues to monitor the bloom.  FDL Reporter

HEALTH NEWS

  • ThedaCare athletic trainer Cassandra Timmers said young athletes should take rest days, vary sports, and eat balanced meals to lower the risk of overuse injuries and heat illness. Coaches and trainers must check weather conditions using tools such as wet bulb globe thermometers—ensuring practices and games remain safe.  Envision Greater FDL
