  • Fond du Lac fire departments will host a free family event from 4-7 p.m. on Oct. 7 at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds—520 Fond du Lac Ave.—to offer truck tours, live demos, hands-on challenges and food vendors for fire safety education. The event marks the start of Fire Prevention Week and gives families a chance to experience firefighter challenges.  FDL Reporter

  • Society Insurance in Fond du Lac was named to the 2025 RISE Elite 50 Internships List for its leading internship program—highlighting its commitment to hands-on learning and professional growth since 2007 with over 155 college students benefiting from summer and year-round roles.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Envision Greater Fond du Lac launched its IGNITE Rural business accelerator for 10 solopreneurs in Fond du Lac County and Waupun, offering five weeks of workshops led by local experts. Participants will pitch their ideas on November 6 at the Waupun High School Auditorium — with prizes of $30,000 for first and $20,000 for second place, supported by WEDC grants.  Envision Greater FDL

  • THELMA’s Great Hall Concert Series returns this fall/winter 2025 with ticketed live music events starting on Saturday, October 11 with The Spine Stealers and continuing through December with a variety of Midwest bands in a cozy venue — members enjoy exclusive discounts on tickets.  Envision Greater FDL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On October 1, the Wisconsin Lottery announced it won a NASPL Batchy Award for Responsible Gambling Communications for its radio ad 'Invisible Addiction'—awarded at a conference in Niagara Falls—and earned finalist recognition for its print ad that helps people spot gambling problems.  KFIZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ana Morton joined Marian women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach—she brought experience from Daytona State and Milligan where she helped develop guards and guide student-athletes. She will work closely with players on and off the court as the program builds its competitive edge.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian University's men's bowling team started its season at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite by finishing in sixth place. The team scored at least 929 pins in every game and earned a high Baker score of 3367—before losing to Rock Valley in bracket play.  Envision Greater FDL
