COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Ridge Road Church announced it will offer free hay rides — scheduled at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. — along with hot chocolate and apple cider on October 11 at W7910 Church Road northwest of Fond du Lac. KFIZ
- ➤ The American Red Cross is asking for more volunteers to help with natural disasters and local emergencies in Northeast Wisconsin and across the country—volunteers can choose roles such as shelter work or delivering supplies. Applicants will fill out a form and receive training to begin serving as needed. WBAY
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Envision Greater Fond du Lac launched IGNITE Rural, a five-week business accelerator program for solopreneurs in Fond du Lac and Waupun that aims to boost ventures plus culminates in a final pitch event on November 6 with $30,000 and $20,000 awards for first and second places. Participants receive expert guidance through workshops before pitching to a panel of judges. KFIZ
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Thelma Sadoff Center For The Arts in Fond du Lac announced its fall/winter Great Hall Concert Series featuring live music from Midwest bands—tickets are required for shows starting with The Spine Stealers on October 11 and continuing through December. KFIZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wisconsin's education department said it will keep school operations running during the shutdown—most federal funds have already been sent, but Impact Aid payments to 20 school districts and child nutrition reimbursements may be delayed if the halt lasts, and officials will notify affected districts of next steps. The department hopes Congress resolves the impasse soon to prevent further funding disruptions. FDL Reporter
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fond du Lac Public Works announced lane restrictions on Scott Street and National Avenue—part of its 2025 Concrete Rehabilitation Program—as repairs on concrete pavement and key infrastructure begin. Scott Street will allow one lane in both directions from Main Street to Park Avenue while National Avenue begins work today on its northbound lane, directing traffic southbound until crews switch to repair the opposite lane over about two weeks.
